Plano Expands Pickleball Courts for Enthusiasts

Plano City responds to the growing demand for pickleball by approving additional courts at the Plano Sports Authority in Carpenter Park, according to a Fox 4 article. They say, 

“The city of Plano is planning to open more new pickleball courts due to the explosive popularity of the game.

Plano City Council signed off on a plan to change the City’s lease agreement to allow the public to play pickleball at the Plano Sports Authority at Carpenter Park.

PSA 1 is currently used for a number of sports, including basketball and volleyball, but not pickleball.”

Pickleball gains momentum in Dallas as Pickleball Kingdom expands with a franchise deal, while Plano responds to resident demand by approving additional courts at PSA 1 in Carpenter Park, according to a WFAA article. They say, 

“Arizona-based Pickleball Kingdom also sets its sights on Dallas after securing a five-unit franchise deal. The indoor pickleball brand will partner with franchisee and Dallas businessman Dan Jenkins to establish the new locations.

WFAA also highlighted an 85-year-old who has helped pickleball grow its roots in Fort Worth.

The city of Plano said in a press release that due to the popularity growth of Pickleball, residents have been asking for more courts. Plano City Council members approved a change to the city’s lease agreement that will allow the public to play pickleball at PSA 1, located at 6500 Preston Meadow Drive in Carpenter Park.”

Plano’s pickleball partnership begins on June 19, with details about the new courts to be announced soon on the Plano Parks and Recreation and PSA websites.
