Dallas is looking to fill the role of the city’s new police chief according to a Dallas Morning News article published on December 9th. In it they say:
“In Dallas’ national search for a new police chief, 36 people applied to fill U. Reneé Hall’s job after she announced she would pursue other opportunities.
In another week, finalists will be interviewed and vetted by six different community groups. And by the end of the month, Dallas’ new chief should be decided.”
The list has been whittled down to 7 names now according to another Dallas Morning News article published on December 10th. In it they say:
“Four of the seven finalists invited to interview with community groups are current or former high-ranking commanders within the department, and two are from out of state, including one from the West Coast and another from the East Coast. Six are men and one is a woman. Three are Black, three are Latino, and one is white. The finalists are: Dallas Police Maj. (https://mclaneedgers.com) Malik Aziz; Assistant Police Chief Avery Moore; Deputy Chief Reuben Ramirez; Albert Martinez, director of security at the Dallas Catholic Diocese; San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia; Irving Police Chief Jeff Spivey; and Charlottesville Police Chief RaShall Brackney.”
With interviews going smoothly and quickly, Dallas should have a name and face for its new police chief very soon.
