Chef Gordon Ramsay’s is moving his Hell’s Kitchen headquarters in Dallas-Fort Worth according to a WFAA article from December 10 which reports,
“Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is relocating his North American restaurant headquarters to Texas, the Dallas Morning News reported.
With the head office move, Ramsay hired a team to expand locations across North America. His team in Las Colinas plans to open 18 restaurants in Chicago, Boston and Miami in 2022. CEO Norman Abdallah plans to lead the opening of 75 company-owned locations in the next five years.
Abdallah said some of the restaurant expansion will include locations in Dallas-Fort Worth, including Street Pizza, Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips and Ramsay Kitchen, but the restaurants won’t open in North Texas until late 2022 and 2023.
Right now, Abdallah is focused on adding locations on the East Coast and in Chicago.”
However, Ramsay and Abdallah’s decision to move was ultimately due to the attractiveness and benefits of Dallas where a lot of companies have actually been moving into according to a Dallas Morning News article from December 9. In it they say,
“The saying goes something like this: “If you can make it in Dallas, you can make it anywhere,” Abdallah says.
He believes Dallas is the best place to find chef and restaurant support talent. Gordon Ramsay North America has a temporary test kitchen inside Dallas College’s Culinary, Pastry and Hospitality facility in North Dallas — a place turning out chefs who are are trained to work in fine dining restaurants and are likely looking for work.
Abdallah and Ramsay were also enticed by the tax benefits in Texas. Plus, “the cost of living adjustment [from California to Texas] is pretty substantial,” Abdallah says.
Gordon Ramsay North America joins other major corporations that have left California for Texas. Among them: Toyota’s North American headquarters, McKesson Corp., Charles Schwab & Co. and CBRE.”
While the headquarters are moving to Dallas-Fort Worth, Gordon Ramsay will not be moving with it. Although notably, there are high-profile personalities such as Elon Musk and Joe Rogan, that have taken residence in Dallas.
