Bass Foundation’s $40M Renames UT Dallas Arts School

UT Dallas Arts School renamed Harry W. Bass Jr. School following a $40M gift, amplifying opportunities for students, faculty, and communities in arts, humanities, and emerging technologies, according to a Dallas Innovates article. They say,

“The School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas will now be called the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology following a $40 million gift to the university from the Harry W. Bass Jr. Foundation.

“The impact of this gift cannot be overstated,” Dr. Nils Roemer, Bass School dean and the Arts, Humanities, and Technology Distinguished University Chair, said in a statement. “It will strengthen the foundation of our scholarships, research and programming and change the trajectory of our school. It multiplies opportunities for students, faculty, and communities to engage in essential experiences of arts, humanities, and emerging technologies.”

The Bass Foundation’s generous gift will empower the Bass School to enhance scholarships, immersive study experiences, and cross-disciplinary work, benefiting students, faculty, and communities, according to a University of Texas at Dallas article which says,

“The foundation’s gift will fuel the Bass School’s priorities and generate new avenues for engagement and exploration. Students will benefit from additional scholarships and fellowships, as well as expanded immersive study experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students. Increased faculty support will help attract and retain innovative educators focused on advancing cross-disciplinary work throughout university centers, labs and studios.

“The impact of this gift cannot be overstated,” said Dr. Nils Roemer, Bass School dean and the Arts, Humanities, and Technology Distinguished University Chair. “It will strengthen the foundation of our scholarships, research and programming and change the trajectory of our school. It multiplies opportunities for students, faculty and communities to engage in essential experiences of arts, humanities and emerging technologies.””

The Bass Foundation’s remarkable gift showcases the community’s support for UT Dallas’ growth and enriches the New Dimensions campaign, benefiting students, research, and the arts. A campus celebration is forthcoming.
