Academy of Country Music Awards To Be Broadcast From Frisco

One of the biggest country music events, the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards, is coming this way in 2023 according to a Dallas Observer article from July 19. They say,

“One of the highest honors in country music — besides getting to perform at the Grand Ole Opry and getting your song in an episode of Yellowstone — is coming back to town.

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) announced on its official website that its 58th annual awards show will be held on May 11, 2023, at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco.

This will be the second time that the ACM Awards have been held in the DFW area. The 50th ACM Awards were held in 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Next year’s awards show will also be the second time the ACMs will stream online on Amazon Prime instead of a TV network and the first time the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters facility in Frisco will host an awards show.”

The event will be held on May 11, 2023, and this will be the second time the event has been held in the DFW area but this time, more special since it will be held in Ford Center according to a Dallas Morning News article which says,

“The Ford Center, a 510,000-square-foot facility that’s home to an indoor stadium and the Cowboys practice facilities at The Star, opened in 2016. It is also used by the city of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District. It has less than a fifth of the capacity of the awards’ 2022 venue in Las Vegas.

The ACM Awards has been held in a number of different venues over its decades-long history. In 2015, for the 50th anniversary of the awards, the ceremony was broadcast from Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, bringing in more than 70,000 spectators. At the show, Cowboys past and present made appearances, including Tony Romo, Jason Witten and Troy Aikman, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones received a preshow award. The event earned a Guinness World Record for the most attendance at an awards show.”

The move to Frisco came as a surprise to longtime viewers of the ACMs. Gov. Greg Abott congratulated the city for being the host city of the ACM Awards in 2023.
