Kristopher S. Barber
Kris grew up in Plano, Texas. After receiving a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Texas A&M University, he returned to the Dallas area to study law at Southern Methodist University. While in law school, Kris was active in interscholastic advocacy competitions. Among his law school achievements, he was selected as the nation’s “Best Oral Advocate” during the American Bar Association’s National Moot Court Competition and he was inducted into SMU’s Order of Barristers upon graduation.
Kris began his career as an attorney at a large defense firm. There, he learned how cases are defended and the circumstances under which defendants pay to settle lawsuits. He then used that knowledge as he changed his practice and went to work as a plaintiff’s attorney for Windle Turley. At the Law Offices of Windle Turley, P.C., Kris handled numerous negligence cases, product liability cases, medical malpractice cases, and other personal injury matters for the firm’s clients.
In 2007, Kris was recognized by Texas Monthly as a “Rising Star,” a distinction held by only the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state.
Kris has also been awarded an AV® Peer Review Rating—the highest rating a lawyer can obtain. Conducted by Martindale-Hubbell, Peer Review Ratings attest to a lawyer's legal ability and professional ethics, and reflect the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary. Legal Ability Ratings take into consideration the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer's expertise, and other professional qualifications.
An AV® Peer Review Rating identifies a lawyer with very high to preeminent legal ability, and is a reflection of the attorney's expertise, experience, integrity and overall professional excellence.
